192 mile camp: One of
fourteen gorgeous "rooms
with a view" we enjoyed on
the trip.
The hikes were always interesting, and
sometimes a little scary. Deer Creek
patio (far left) and hiking up National
Canyon.
Who says there are no
showers?
This is what people do before they
go through Lava Falls, the class 10
rapid (on that weird Grand Canyon
scale): point, furrow brows, get
cameras ready, point some more
(Is that Andy in the background with
his head bowed in
prayer?)
Here's what we were looking at, the top
of Lava. (It seems a lot bigger when
you're actually in it).
Kristen's oar boat (far left) and
Laura in an IK (aka:
the
ducky
) next to schist granite
wall. Some of the rock we saw
was 1.8 billion years old.

I suppose not every couple
would want to spend their
honeymoon camping...no
(indoor) showers...no
sheets...We were pretty rough
around the edges by the end of
two weeks. But we came home
in love with the canyon, with life,
and definitely with each other.
(Bighorn at Nankoweap and
view from Nankoweap trail.
Haze is from fires on the rim.)
